Indie Lewis

Indie (they/them) is the Capacity Building and Training Lead for White Oak Conservation, where they lead the Conservation Capacity Building Team. Their current work involves managing internship, college, youth, and professional development programs with a focus on empowering conservationists, and building a more inclusive conservation community.

Prior to White Oak, Indie worked for both the Phoenix Zoo and the Oregon Zoo, where they supported a variety of education, conservation, volunteer, and behavior change initiatives. They are passionate about developing innovative programs that welcome community participation and build meaningful partnerships to achieve large conservation impacts.

Indie has a bachelor's degree in animal science and a master's degree in public health from the University of Minnesota. As part of their master’s degree, Indie completed a concentration in equity work, and continues to have a strong dedication to supporting and uplifting communities, especially the larger LGBTQ+ community.
